Sugar Cookies
These classic cookies are perfect for decorating and adding a personal touch to your holiday gatherings. recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
Roll the dough out onto a lightly floured surface to about 1/4-inch thickness. Use cookie cutters to cut out desired shapes and transfer to the prepared baking sheet.
Bake the cookies for 8-10 minutes, or until they are lightly golden around the edges. Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Once the cookies are cool, you can decorate them with your choice of frosting and sprinkles. Enjoy!
